The sanctuary, dedicated to Fortuna Virilis, was destined for fertility rites held during the festivals in honor of Venus (Venerea).
The sanctuary is associated with a large swimming pool (47 mx 21 m.), Central element of the venerea. On the stone pillars, still visible today, was placed a wooden platform on which was placed the statue of Venus sitting on a throne.
The married women who participated in the ritual immersed themselves in the pool in the hope of having a happy birth.
